Father Matt Link compares the devil’s sly ways of luring us away from holiness to the enemy who penetrated the Great China Wall. The Great China Wall is the only man made structure on earth that is visible from the moon. The Chinese leaders believed that it was impossible for the enemy to penetrate their wall, but the enemy easily went right through the wall. How did they do it?  They bribed the gatekeeper and he let them in. 

We have the Great Wall of the Eucharist. Honoring Jesus in the Eucharist, spending special time with Him is our ticket to heaven. It is our gift from God that assures us nothing can keep us from Him. Ah, but like the enemies of China, Satan is very cunning. He doesn’t attack us head on. He bribes the gatekeeper and tries to infiltrate our hearts in little insignificant ways. “You don’t have time to sign up for Prayer Power that’s too much of a commitment. Make your visits on your own it will be easier. God knows you’re busy with your family.”  We listen to the inner voice and we don’t make a commitment to a special time to make our holy hour. We decide we’ll just do it when it is convenient. Unfortunately history has proven we never find a convenient time. 

Don’t let the old boy convince you that your business is far more important than spending a weekly or monthly hour alone with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. I’ve been making a weekly holy hour for years. I know the joy and peace I receive from my hour. Yet every time I prepare for my hour I can think of twenty reasons why I should postpone it until later. I can’t believe the overwhelming resistance I feel every time I’m getting ready to make my holy hour. If I wasn’t committed to a specific time and place to spend an hour with Our Lord in front of the Blessed Sacrament I don’t think I would ever get there. I would give into the overwhelming pull to skip it. But when I get in front of Our dear Lord I am so happy to be there. Over and over again I say “Oh Lord thank you thank you for leading me to your Eucharistic Heart. It is good that I am here. 

One of the great sadness in my life is that I can’t seem to help more people see the joy and power in praying before the Blessed Sacrament. Nothing in this world compares with Jesus’ gift of Himself in the Eucharist. Don’t miss it. Don’t cheat yourself from such a magnificent gift of love as the love Jesus has for you in His Eucharist. The graces you receive will permeate your family. I guarantee it. 

Join Prayer Power. Try it for six months. You make a holy hour a month for three special intentions. Christ will be the center of families. We have an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life and we have holy priests and religious. You sign up for your hour at your own parish. If you like you can sign up and pray at St. Charles Seminary. We also give you a priest to pray for. We ask you to pray for him every night at dinner. 

My Jesus I thank you for all your children who are considering being a member of Prayer Power.

My dearest Lord through the Heart of your Mother touch their hearts, give them courage to say “yes” to your wonderful invitation to “come to me all you who labor and are burdened and I will refresh you.”  

Help them Jesus answer your request and “Beg the harvest master to send workers into the fields.”  

And dear Jesus when you whisper in their heart, “can you not spend one hour with me?” help them embrace your love with an overwhelming “Yes I can and will spend one hour with you.”  We thank you and praise you dear Jesus for answering our prayer.
