About Prayer PowerWhat is Prayer Power?
Prayer Power is an intercessory Eucharistic Prayer movement founded in 1983 by Peggie O'Neill to encourage people to pray before the Blessed Sacrament for: An increase in vocation to the priesthood and religious life; Christ centered families; and Holy priests and religious on fire with love for the Eucharist. Prayer Power has over 7,000 members throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia committed to praying before the Blessed Sacrament for vocations and families. How does Prayer Power work? It's easy! Prayer power members pray for others by committing to one or more of our three programs: Prayer Power Hour; Prayer Power Weekly Adorations; and the Prayer Power Line. For Prayer Power Hour, members spend one hour per month praying for the Prayer Power intentions in front of the Blessed Sacrament in their parish or at Saint Charles Seminary. Members are assigned a priest and asked to pray for him during their Prayer Power hour and each night at their evening meal. Prayer Power Weekly Eucharistic Adorations are held on Tuesdays at Saint Charles Seminary in Wynnewood, PA from September until May and at 60 parishes in the diocese. Members who participate in the Prayer Power Line pray for the special intentions submitted to Prayer Power. What will Prayer Power do for me? As one Prayer Power member put it: "I committed to making a holy hour to help the church with vocations. But the joke was on me. God has a sense of humor, My Holy Hour helped me far more than I helped the Church." -Eustace Mita (father and businessman) |
